How we structure the learning
Each module focuses on one production challenge. You'll work on a single environment throughout the course, building complexity as your skills develop. We start with blocking out basic shapes and end with a fully lit, optimized scene ready for gameplay. The seminars include live critiques where we analyze what works and what doesn't in your builds. No generic tutorials—every session addresses the specific problems your cohort is facing that week.
How the program works
Twelve weeks, one environment
You'll build a complete game-ready scene from scratch. Each week introduces new technical layers while refining what you've already made.
The structure mirrors how actual game studios develop environments. Week one is all about concept and reference gathering. By week six, you're optimizing draw calls and testing performance. The final weeks focus on polish—particle effects, ambient audio cues, and the tiny details that make spaces feel inhabited. We don't move to the next topic until everyone's current work meets production standards.
Reference Analysis
Breaking down real locations and existing games to understand composition, scale, and visual language.
Blockout Phase
Rough geometry to establish player flow and sightlines before committing to detailed assets.
Asset Production
Modeling, texturing, and material creation with proper UV layouts and LOD chains.
Assembly and Lighting
Placing assets, setting up light sources, and baking where needed for target frame rates.
Optimization Pass
Profiling performance, reducing overdraw, and making technical compromises that preserve visual quality.
